Pasta Sauce
We made 4 different pasta sauces for our parent appreciation dinner. Spicy and mild meat sauces, and spicy and mild veggie sauces
The recipes were a little bit improvised by the many K-Bot chefs, but the basic instructions are as follows:
Meat Sauce (serves 30+ people)
Ingredients
- 6 lbs ground beef
- 6 cans tomato sauce
- 3 onions, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, pressed
- 2 finely chopped carrots
- 4 finely chopped green peppers
- vegetable oil
- salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder (for the spicy sauce)
Directions
- Saute the onions in vegetable oil.
- Brown the meat.
- Combine meat and onions in a pot with tomato sauce.
- Add vegetables and garlic
- Season to taste. (Add lots of chili powder for the spicy variety)
Veggie Sauce (serves 30+ people)
Ingredients
- 6 cans tomato sauce
- 6 cans diced tomatoes
- 3 cloves of garlic, pressed
- 3 onions finely chopped
- 2 finely chopped carrots
- 4 finely chopped green peppers
- 2 cups Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP)
- salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder (for the spicy sauce)
Directions
- Combine the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes in a pot.
- Add onions, vegetables and garlic.
- Season to taste. (Add lots of chili powder for the spicy variety)
- Add TVP which will soak up any extra liquid, and will give the texture of meat, and add protein to the dish.
